Deep 6 Racing is calling it quits to Jet Skiing:
Deep 6 Racing is calling it quits on the water. Deep 6 Racing has been actively racing the Jet ski tours for over 4 years now and is now throwing in the towel.
After talking with team members it seems that the Jet ski community is all talk. There is a lot of talk about making things better, but it seems to be a next year solution. The amount of riders are just not as high as they use to. One of the biggest complaints out of Deep 6 members is having to travel 9 hours from Nebraska to Colorado for at least 3 races each year. The travel was not the issue, but the altitude. "It is not any fun traveling these distances to ride what feels like stock boats," stated Tony Bowman, lead mechanic for the team. The altitude plays a huge factor in jet skis run, and they don't run very fast. "Jet skis that normally run over 60 MPH can barely break 50 MPH in Colorado, it's a tuner's nightmare," Tony added.
There is a local promoter in Nebraska, but that is not a option for the Deep 6 team. The local promoter only has the USRS's which only take the top rider from each class. Since over half the rider population in Region 4 is closer to Nebraska, than Colorado, why are the USRC's still in Colorado?
The other reason the local promoter will not work for the Deep 6 racing team is because of the promoter staff. Riders travel great distances and spend lots of money to race with these promoters, and the riders get treated like shit. The local promoter singles the Deep 6 racing team out.
