Deep 6 Racing

Deep 6 started in 1998 when a couple of racers got together and decided that since we tore up the local beach scene together, that we might as well tear up the local raceways together too. We started out slow at first trying to help one another with our race boats, because some of us were competitors. We are now currently helping one another to try and become major competitors. In May of 1998 Brian decided he wanted to get back in to the race scene, so he went to Fremont for the first race of the Great Plains Tour. While Brian was heading to the race, the rest of us were sleeping off a hangover. Around 11:00 we got a call from Brian telling us to come out and see this. We all loaded up the Bronco and headed to the race. At first we had mixed thoughts about racing; (Tony-wanted to race bad and said "next race I'm there")(Chuck-not so sure said "It looks cool, I'll race as long as there's hot chicks there")(Pickle-started shaking and said "No, my mom will ground me if I attempt to do anything as dangerous as that") as for Fred, what's new, he was sleeping in the Bronco. The race was cool and gave us crazy recreational riders a whole new look at the endless opportunities associated with jettieding. Two weeks later we all went to the next race of the season, Storm Lake Draw. This was Tony, Chuck, and Pickle's first race ever. Fred didn't race for two reason's, first we couldn't get him up and second he didn't have a jettied. The race went well, Brian had a good race and finished 4th. As for the other three of us we had to race against each other in the same class. Tony got 2nd, Chuck got third (on a 97'XP) and poor pickle he got a sorry 5th place.

We have now been racing for a few years, and every Deep 6 member has either qualified for the World Finals, and or placed at the World Finals. Fred is the only member that has not achieved this status. Fred got out of the game mid season last year because he was getting married. This last season was the biggest season for Deep 6 Racing. Tony qualified for the World Finals in 2 classes. He ended up finishing 4th in the Nation last season. Deep 6's newcomer last season OZ went to the World Finals, but did not meet our expectations. He got knocked out the first day of competition. He will have to do some major improvements during the spring if he wants to be apart of Deep 6 Racing in 2001. The other new comer was Primetime. He also had the same type of performance as OZ did at the Finals. OZ did get a National ranking out of the deal though, as for Primetime, a hard spring training ahead. Chuck qualified in Sport for the World Finals, but he decided he didn't want to go. Deep 6 was looking for Chuck to evolve a little more in SKI, but he didn't progress as hoped. Brian did live up to our expectations in SKI. He decided to put away the Yamaha Blaster and race a Super Jet. He qualified for the World Finals in SKI. He decided not to go due to financials. Pickle had a kid midway through the season, but still qualified for the finals. His wife wouldn't let him go to the finals.
